Abstract
In my thesis I am going to reveal that role-plays have an undeservedly small importance in English teaching in Hungary. According to my opinion this situation can and should be changed. I will convey my idea across to the reader by analysing the answers to my questionnaire given by Hungarian students and teachers of English focusing on the following aspects: the frequency of the five given types of role-plays, the teachers' and students' attitude towards this kind of teaching technique, and the psychological factors behind it. I will point out some elements of classroom management, and finally, I will mention the criticism of role-plays and the possibility of integrating other subject into the English lesson.
