Abstract
In this thesis first I intend to give a short description of the characteristics of children between the ages four and seven. I wish to share my own experiences also with the readers, to show how I see and use these characteristics in my teaching. Second, I would like to introduce our pre-school, our English teaching method and syllabus and the children whom I teach. Finally I try to find answers to the following questions: How far can these children get in their English understanding after two, three years of English playing at this pre-school? How these years of English learning would effect their studies of English and of Hungarian at the first years of Elementary School? As I expected, these children are good pupils in the elementary schools, their former English study has no negative effect on their Hungarian learning, on the contrary, they are as good as the others and very often much better in communication.
