Abstract
This thesis examines the British Monarchy's involvement in British politics during the period 1979 — 2002. I will prove that the Monarchy, though being a politically neutral institution, does have a complicated and very special kind of political role, often as its own Government's second Opposition. Based on the literature, opinion polls and articles mainly from the Internet , all listed in the Reference Section, I will demonstrate how the present functions of the Monarchy and the out-of-date unwritten British constitution make the Monarchy's political involvement inevitable.
