Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to analyse Chuck Palahniuk's novel Fight Club, primarily with the help of psychoanalytical theory. Its main focus is on the character's relation to death. I will prove my statement through exploring their personality, relationships, and social background by referring to Sigmund Freud's works in the first place. Palahniuk's novel was written in 1996, but this is not the only reason why it is called a post modern work, so I will rely on gender studies, post modern philosophers and psychoanalysts. With their help I will prove that the narrator wants to experience the boundaries of his existence.
