Abstract

This thesis examines the relationship between Gulf War I (1990-1991), and Gulf War H (2003), from an American point of view. I will prove that there were several primary and secondary reasons why the first Gulf War was unfinished and the second Gulf War broke out in 2003. The primary reason being that Saddam Hussein had not been removed from his presidential position in Iraq at the end of Gulf War I, and there were secondary reasons as well, perhaps the most important being that Saddam Hussein supposedly possessed weapons of mass destruction. (WMD) I will examine the period between 1991 and 2001 (2003) because that period played an important role and affected the outbreak of the second Gulf Crisis. I am going to mention the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States as the first serious event leading to a global fight against terrorism and the outbreak of the second Gulf War. In the thesis I will focus on the foreign policy of American administrations during the examined period concerning the Arab world, especially Iraq. My sources are going to be from the Internet, from magazines like Newsweek and other periodicals published in the United States during the examined period.
