Abstract
This thesis examines teaching English for blind, low vision and partially sighted students by a teacher from a mainstream primary school. My hypothesis is that even if there are learning differences the blind and sighted students can be taught English as a second or a foreign language as well. I believe that with getting some information about the issue teachers without a degree in special education for the handicapped children can teach English and help these children to be part of our everyday life if some information on the issue is provided. Apart from a short view from medical and pedagogical aspect I will demonstrate the methodological viewpoint of the matter considering the fact that in Hungary there is just one special institute for the blind and visually impaired (Kindergarten, Elementary, Special Vocational and Boarding School for Visually Impaired Children) incorporates student from all over the country.
