Abstract
This thesis examines the economic and cultural effects of the Gold Rush in California during the19th century. California is the richest state of the USA today, and I will prove that theGoldRush hadavery important role in the prosperity of California. I will demonstrate that without the Gold Rush, California would not have become such a flourishing place for today. My aids (books and Internet sites)contain more than a hundred contemporary sources such as original foundation contracts, maps, certificates, paintings, as well as monographs written about the subject.
