Abstract

This thesis examines the value of integrating literature to foreign language classroom. I would like to point to the importance of teaching literature from the beginner level of the elementary school. I am focusing on a certain age group, on children from ten to fourteen. I would also like to prove that reading literary works improves students' all skills, give them a wide range of vocabulary and make them a better reader which leads reading more. At first, I will demonstrate the reasons why to teach literature in the classroom, the aspects of choosing literary works, besides, I will describe the approaches to the teaching of reading. The next part will be the methods and activities used throughout the reading process. Finally, I will summarize the importance of teaching literature.
