Abstract
This thesis work is going to deal with the main motif of Hunter S. Thompson's great novel, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the journey of its characters, while they are trying to achieve the legendary American Dream. My aim is to prove that the two characters' intention to find the American Dream is idealistic and not fully completed. They are bound to fail in spite of their struggle for defining themselves. I will demonstrate how their fate is determined by the city's environment and its people's behavior and tolerance towards them. Eventually they are expelled from the city without actually satisfying their will.
