Abstract

In this work I wrote about the importance of English language: it is the most important international language in the world. Despite this fact most of the teenagers bring no extrinsic motivation to the classroom. At this age their personality changes a lot and they have got many problems because they are not little children any more but also not adults. The most important factor affecting intrinsic motivation is the teacher, who has to look for common topic in order to communicate. It can be popular culture, in which most of teenagers interested. Through Media pop songs, TV programmes, magazines, books can be enjoyed, and they can easily become materials for English lessons. Amongst kinds of media the television is the most popular medium. The visual stimulus provides added interest of the students, and this interest increases learner motivation. Any English language television program is potentially usable as an English language teaching aid. I wrote about only some of popular television categories: news, soap operas, quizzes and TV commercials. Pop music also plays an especially important role in the lives of teenagers. Jazz Chants are mixture of music and speech, Jazz chanting is popular teaching technique. And in order to improve our students' reading skills English magazines, newspapers can be read, which interest teenagers. Beyond the language teaching in a very motivating way the teacher can give students cultural value and can help them to appreciate and select is. By means of English lessons our students can gain more understanding of the world in which we live.
