Abstract

The question of materials and visuals is very important in teaching a foreign language because they help to bridge the gap between reality and fantasy, and they help to attract and hold children's interest. This interest and emotion are the key for successful teaching and learning. To find the way to the children's interest, teachers have to know their students very well: they have to be aware of different kinds of characteristics. When the teachers get acquainted with their students, they have to select the methods and materials to use. For this, they have to know a lot of materials and be aware of their advantages and disadvantages. If teachers choose the proper materials and use them effectively, they have to be careful about using them at the suitable level. This is very important because as children are getting older and older and their levels of development changes they need different methods and materials to achieve success in learning a foreign language.
