Abstract

During my years in theeducationalsystem I was confronted with very different language usage in the class. This gave me the idea to search for more information about this topic. I was interested in how English and Hungarian languages were used in the class. I also wanted to get information about the differences and similarities of language use at schools of a city and of a provincial town. I did my research by reading the relevant literature in this field, corresponding with ELTECS teachers about this subject through Internet, giving out questionnaires to students at the same age in different places at different schools to experienced teachers. The questionnaires mentioned above were carried out on the same age group on students in the seventh and eighth classes. Half of the students attend the Juhász Gyula Practising Primary School in Szeged, the other half of them the Szilády Áron Protestant Secondary Grammar School in Kiskunhalas. Though the primary tools in my research project were the two types of questionnaires I visited lessons and carried out interviews with the teachers observed in order to compare them with the data got from questionnaires.
