Abstract

In my thesis, I am dealing with the subject of novels built upon the lives of the authors. In order to show how writers can be influenced by their own lives and surroundings I chose Charlotte Bronte and her four main novels; The professor, Jane Eyre, Shirley and Villette. Charlotte Bronté is remarkable for being able to write about things that she never experienced. Therefore, I chose her to introduce a person, who was a master of writing and imagination, but on the other hand someone who could never tear herself from the atmosphere she was born into. There are three parts of my thesis. In the first part, I am writing about Charlotte Bronté's world, including her outer and inner world. In the second part, I am examining different points and show what autobiographical elements we can find in her novels about each. After the conclusion, I end my work with illustration from her life.
