Abstract
In this thesis I would like to prove the importance of teaching vocabulary. In chapter I. I am going to state some theoretical bases. I am going to make the meaning of short term memory and long term memory. I am going to distinguish productive vocabulary form receptive vocabulary. I am going to write about selecting vocabulary and the learners types. In chapter II. I am going to present some scholarly achievement connecting with introducing new vocabulary. Following that three main techniques are going to be introduced. In capter III. I am going to demonstrate some possibilities of practising vocabulary. In chapter IV. I am going to show how I used the theory during my lessons. There is no doubt that teaching vocabulary is very important. Teachers have to help their students in the learning process. Teachers have to acquire psychological and pedagogical knowledge. They have to be ready to renew their methods and look for new ways in their teaching process. In this way teachers can make work easier. Lessons will be more enjoyable and more effective. Students knowledge will be more powerful.
