Abstract
Henry VIII's problems in his private life interfered with his life as a King to the extent that he made religious decisions in order to solve his private problems. In this thesis I will examine the process and the reasons behind the ending of Henry VIII's first marriage. This work will discuss England at the first half of the sixteenth century, the outcomes and the religious effects of Henry VIII's divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Furthermore I will discuss the dissolution of the monasteries, how Henry VIII became the Head of the Anglican Church, and how his divorce and religious decisions are connected.
