Abstract

This thesis examines the novel House Made of Dawn written by N. Scott Momaday in 1968 initiated the Native American Renaissance in American literature. I will prove that Abel, the protagonist, can restore his lost identity if he returns to his homeland and reintegrate into his tribal tradition. Putting the fragments of characters' memories together, I will reveal the reasons and motives of his identity confusion and will show the steps to his recovery.
