Abstract
In my thesis I focus on the cartoons of our days and on how they influence children's taste and imagination. In the first part of my thesis I introduce the Disney phenomenon, and I focus on the following: Oscar-Prizes — the Disney workshop, the cradle of the Disney phenomenon, Walt Disney and the kitsch (the roundish figures, being syrupy, making Disney products from the original works) and the impact of Walt Disney's works on children. In the second part I make an experiment and inside it I write about the experiment in general, the concrete results and the summary of the results. My aim is to prove and illustrate that the cartoons which are not for children and — in connection with them — the torrent of pictures from television adversely affect children's imagination and their faculty of expression. I can prove it with the following: I compare a composition which was written in 1976 with other compositions written in 2003. In the final conclusion I summarize the essential message of this work and suggest how to solve this problem. I state that children's usage has changed for the worse because of the inappropriate cartoons. The solution is choosing suitable cartoons for our children and being able to switch off the television when somebody is fed up with the torrent of pictures.
