Abstract
Foreign language teaching often stars in the primary school at the age of eight or nine. However, there are attempts to teach children of ages bellow eight. This essay only focuses on fourth and fifth graders. I'm going to discuss the acquisition of vocabulary theoretically as a level of language, how words are stored, learning and language teaching. Strategies used by children are observed in practice and some guiding principles for vocabulary teaching are also given.
