    Abstract

This thesis examines the particular colonial policy of Britain in India at the end of the 18`hcentury. I will demonstrate that Britain's colonial policy changed at that time and also that Warren Hastings played an important role in the colonization process. Comparing his work to his predecessors', I will prove that he can be seen the real founder of the British dominion in India although Robert Clive is considered the most important figure establishing the British authority in this territory.
