Abstract
In the focus of this paper are the late starter Russian learners of Juhász Gyula Teachers' Training College and the Russian programme. After defining the characteristics of young adult language learners in general, I am going to take a look at - from a theoretical point of view - how the programme fits the abilities of the late starters of Russian. Can young adult language learners achieve native-like proficiency with the present Russian programme? I am going to provide an answer from the theoretical point of view. This paper serves as a propaedeutic analysis of the topic. For more detailed information about the Russian major students and the Russian Programme further research is required.
