Abstract
In this paper I. will write about_ the teaching of new. words. I want. to examine how teachers present new. vocabulary items, what techniques they, use and what students know about words as a result of this presentation. Firstly I. will describe the features of vocabulary, and what students should know about vocabulary in general. Then I will discuss the techniques that are used for teaching new. words$. After giving. the theoretical background, in the practical part of my work, I. carried out a. small-scale research among the teachers which methods are used to teach new vocabulary. I- also handed a. testpape:r for students.. The results meant to indicate what students know about words. Finally I. will summarize my experiences and the opinions of the teachers about teaching new vocabulary items.
