Abstract

The thesis deals with love and death as motives in Ernest Hemingway's works. This topic and these motives were probably the writer's favourite ones: most of his novels and stories contained these elements. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first one is the introduction. In the second one a portrait of the writer is drawn, depicting moments of his life in connection with the topic of the thesis. The third chapter deals with the motives of love in Hemingway's works. In the fourh one the Death and the writer's the attitude to it are shown. After the fifth one, which is the conclusion, the sixth chapter has become teaching implications.
