Abstract
The essay attempts to introduce Chinese's way of life in New York, USAin the period 1880s-1980s. Thousands of economically, socially and politically dissatisfied Chinese have migrated to the USA for betterment. Sometimes they manage, sometimes they are disillusioned. The migration mean potential problem for Chinese newcomers, who are not fitting in the American nation. The hostile acts inlegislation and the hostile feelings in the American public set the stage for the assimilation of the Chinese. This thesis shows the major problem of their assimilation.
