Abstract
This paper investigates the advantages and disadvantages of Internet activities focused on improving writing skill in secondary schools in Hungary. The first two chapters consider the history of Internet and presents its applications in connection with the possibilities they offer for English teaching, mainly focused on writing skill. Chapter 3 describes a research which is based on the survey of teachers and their 17-year-old secondary school students in Békéscsaba. The last chapter summarises the strengths and weaknesses of the Net as a language learning tool and concludes that notwithstanding its drawbacks the Internet is a true asset to the English language classroom.
