Abstract
In my thesis I stress the necessity of teaching a foreign language through literature. Authentic material can assist the teacher in teaching a foreign language and literature is a very good source material from this point of view. I shall prove the importance of the Bible as a literary source in language teaching and I shall list examples where I think the Bible can be integrated into the English lesson. In the last chapter I will point out that there are special possibilities between drama and language teaching. Throughout my thesis I have tried to find a relationship between English and other subjects in order to show that subjects are closely connected with each other.
