Abstract
This thesis intends to find the answer for to what extent students can learn the language through games. The first section looks at the theoretical background of how teaching vocabulary has changed during the last few years. The second section gives short introduction to language games discussing their success, types and effectiveness. The next part describes how the research tools were carried out by using questionnaires and a memory test. The last chapter summarises the main findings and results of the research. It summarises not only the success achieved in vocabulary teaching but highlights its weakpoints, as well.
