Abstract

The main objective of the following thesis is to give a detailed investigate approach to Holden Caulfield, the main character of the novel; to examine his attitude to his surroundings and to shed light on his real personality. This way I am going to prove that his revolt against the adults' world is a fruitless effort. He leaves his schools, his home and his parents, too, because he would like to be clean and wants to do the things in another way. He escapes from the real world. This opposition is his teen dream. At the end of the novel Holden is still an adolescent but a mature man as well in my opinion. He draws the conclusions, so he does not want to be an outsider any longer.
