Abstract
This thesis aims to prove that Oscar Wilde's two well- known fairy tales, The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and the Rose are variations on one theme. To justify my satement, I will compare the two tales in various aspects, analysing their plots and structures, and emphasizing the similarities, I will draw a paralell between the motifs and symbols of the two tales.
