Abstract
This thesis focuses on mistake and error management in language teaching. The hypothesis is that errorandmistake management is important in language teaching but it is not invariably necessary. The first part of the thesis involves some background information about second language acquisition, the role of the first language in second language teaching and where mistakes and errors direvefrom. The majority of the thesis is based on a survey which studies thirty-five secondary school students' opinions.
