Abstract
This thesis examines the importance of the role of games involved into English lessons. I intend to prove that with the help of the games the lessons can be more efficient and enjoyable for the teachers and for the students as well. I am focusing on a certain age group, on children at the age of nine and ten whose first and main foreign language is English. At first, in the first section I will demonstrate the theoretical background of how methodology of teaching vocabulary changed during the last decades. In the next two sections I will describe briefly the importance of games during the lessons, besides, I mention the basic factors of effective language teaching. The next part will be the research; it gives a short description of how the research tools were carried out by using questionnaires. Finally, the last chapter will summarize the main conclusions of the results of the research. I am willing to emphasize mainly the effective ways of teaching involving games.
