Abstract
Social psychological studies assume that there are some communicative strategies, which emerge from the presence of self-presentation, and which have an impact on the course of conversation. The aim of my paper is to present illustrative data, taken from a popular Hungarian chat forum (chat.gyaloglo.hu), to show the relevance of impression management. I would like to examine the realisation of Grice's Cooperative Principle and Leech's Politeness Principle in computer mediated communication. My hypothesis is that anonimity can greatly influence this kind of interaction.
