Abstract

This thesis investigates the negative effects that reached American teenagers through rock and roll music between 1950 and 1980. I will prove that the rebel ideas and feelings that rock and roll transported to youth influenced them to start drinking, smoking and using drugs. I would like to show the connection between the spreading of rock and roll and the rising criminal and drug addiction rate through statistics and diagrams. I examined some of the most popular rock and roll stars' problem with alcohol, drugs and I have found evidences about that they were not ideal models to follow for teenagers.
