Abstract
This thesis examines the revenge process in William Shakespeare's Hamlet, The Prince of Denmark. I will demonstrate Hamlet's complex and contradictory character and his philosophising nature; his various problems in his psyche according to the works of psychoanalists. I will examine the way and the characteristic features that have a great influence on his dilemma, thoughts and decisions. Following the act and scenes I will examine the motives and the process of the revenge in this drama. I will prove, that the protagonist is not a real revenge hero like the other young men: Laertes and Fortinbras, which is one of the main reasons why he delays to fulfil his revenge.
