Abstract

This thesis examines the use of tales in primary school language teaching. The thesis first gives a short overview of different theories of tales, then, through a list of tasks to the tale of The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, I will prove that children are more motivated by this approach, and find it more interesting to acquire the language in this way. My experience with a fifth grade class also proved that, besides being fully justified, using tales as a tool in language teaching is enjoyable for both the students and the teacher as well.
