Abstract

The paper deals with the issues of the unconventional women and how they are treated negatively throughout Great Expectations. The only expectation is Estella’s character who is harmed as well but she is not destroyed in the end and the fact that the unconventional woman is the idealized woman for the main character. It also gives explanations of women’s legal situation and their connection to the home in the Victorian era since the characters themselves are either spinsters, married or single in Great Expectations. The characters that will be mention are Mrs Joe, Molly, Biddy, Miss Havisham and Estella. Every person changes by suffering has its issues is that there is a very obvious connection between the unconventional women and the negative harmful of their character or the way they cause harm. On the other hand, Estella's was perceived different and come to a different ending than all those other women who died or suffered through the novel.
