Abstract

Myths were adapted countless times over the years. Some habits could easily be observed such as Zeus being a good king; usually his sons are being the heroes. Many adaptation places an emphasis on the opposition of Zeus and Hades, who is almost always depicted as a villain conspiring to destroy Olympus. Rick Riordan wrote his bestseller series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and breathed new life in to the ancient myths by changing the gods’ personalities and features and perhaps managed to excite new young minds to read the original stories. He also made the protagonist a son of Poseidon instead of Zeus. In this paper, I aim to prove no one can understand the gods completely, as experience and the situation and the people themselves give different attributes and features to the gods. My research showed that there are so many different adaptations of myths and every single one of them differed in some features. These adaptation always showed something new, which was hidden before.
