Abstract

Since I have always been interested in music I would like to survey the potential of music in language teaching. Music can be as useful as, and sometimes more than conventional classroom materials. But it is often suspect because it is so enjoyable and so little used. The idea that the language learning cannot be enjoyable is, however, outdated. Nevertheless many teachers and students cling to the attitude that if something is fun, you cannot be learning. Like medicine, these people think, if it does not taste nasty, it cannot be doing any good. This thesis attempts to show otherwise.
