Abstract

I am concerned that it is essential to clarify the historical background of Wales if not at full length at least briefly in order to give an outlook for the reader. This first section deals with the different people who entered the British Isles , more precisely the territory of Wales from the first invaders to the loss of its independence. This overview is followed by a description . of contemporary Celtic society and culture in Wales including the depiction of everyday life and general information on the subject. In the third chapter I analyse the language which is called Cymraeg in Welsh regarding its origins and destiny up to the present times. The topic of religion comes next dealing with rites gods , Druids and more details in connection with the subject. The art of the Celts is extremely significant therefore I have chosen a whole section to deal with literature focusing especially on the bardic tradition. The Mabinogion and I devoted a whole section to the fairies to conclude.
