Abstract

In my thesis I would like to concentrate on language games for adult beginners. Games are very important in our life. English language is the most popular foreign language among language learners. Nowadays more and more adults start to learn English. In chapter II I have written about language games in general. Most people like playing games. Organisation of games has several special phrases. These expressions are also listed. In chapter III I have shown adults' reasons for learning languages. Why do adults start to learn English and go to the lessons? They have lots of different reasons and a wide range of motivation. In general adults like taking part in games actively and enjoy playing games. Language games are fun and useful part of the lesson. We can practise every language items. Games have a very important role of language acquisition and playing games motivate the students to learn better. In chapter IV I have looked at several language games which can develop the four basic skills. They are divided into two groups receptive skills and productive skills. I have mentioned a few language games and written about adult's behaviour during playing games. In general they were very enthusiastic. Some of them usually play these games with their friends or children to practise English. In conclusion I have written about my experiences using games in a group of adult beginners. I have read lots of book in connection these topics. In the appendix of my thesis I have given a list of these books.
