Abstract

The Industrial Revolution had a fundamental impact on contemporary social and economic life that William Blake, the great Romantic English poet found destructive rather than constructive. In this thesis, I will examine the poems of William Blake written about the life and values he experienced during the Industrial Revolution. I will prove that William Blake reacted negatively to the Industrial Revolution and foresaw the negative future ofthat era. Through several poems by William Blake which are related to this era and using materials concerning Blake’s poems I will clearly show and demonstrate the dark image Blake had about that era in which he lived.
