Abstract

'Once Upon a Time...' these magic words remind us of our childhood and favourite tales. These words are timeless and never-changing. Teaching English through stories and tales is an exciting and rewarding task for teachers. In this thesis I will prove that the tales teach the young learners by means of different activities. I will demonstrate that tales develop children's personality and entertain them with their illustrations and funny characters. I will present the importance of teaching English through stories with the help of an old traditional tale from the very attractive Ladybird Book series. I will ask young learners to fill in a questionnaire connected to a tale entitled The Three Little Pigs and activities related to it.
