Abstract

My thesis traces the conceivable connections between the flaws of the individual and society in Golding's The Lord of the Flies and Orwell's Animal Farm. I will prove both writers' belief that the problems of any political or social system root in the defects of human nature. Using the two novels, their characters and symbols, I will conclude that my assumption was right, mankind cannot create perfect societies because there is no such thing as perfect man.
