Abstract
This thesis is a translation critique; it examines the book 'Angyal a lépcsőn' translated by András Barabás, which is the Hungarian version of Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes. The thesis examines the lexical transformation changes according to the categories of Kinga Klaudy. I will prove that the Hungarian translator was not faithful to the original text, most of the times he palliated the complete atmosphere and impression of the chapters, therefore he misled the Hungarian readers to some extent.
