Abstract

In this paper I focused on A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams. I am analysing the characters' behaviour and inner thoughts that correspond to the Freudian psychoanalytic theory. Repressed feelings, hidden desires, unconscious sense of guilt can be found in the background of the characters' behaviour. My aim is to prove that Blanche cannot get rid of her guilty past, in contrast to Brick, who can.
