Abstract

In my thesis I state that involving ethics as content into the teaching process would bring new dimensions into teaching English because it is an appropriate field through which we can help children to get to know themselves better, make them be able to use their inherent virtues and intellectual abilities the best way. I introduce my thesis emphasizing the importance of dealing with the subject of ethics in general then I present some important concepts by famous phylosophers and psychologists. In the two main parts of my thesis I write about how to involve ethics as topics in the process of teaching and learning English and what criteria a coursebook should fulfil when we analyse it from the point of view of teaching ethics. I made a survey where I asked both teachers and students how much the coursebook they are using is adoptable for developing the students' sense of ethics. The conclusion of the survey is that although every teacher considers educational aims and ethics important in English lessons, the coursebook they are teaching from does not really give support for them to develop the students'sense of morality.
