Abstract

This thesis examines how teacher's appearance and style can influence children's attitude towards communication in a foreign language. The aim of this research is to investigate that appearance has a great importance at the beginning of teaching but later, when students get to know the teacher's teaching style, its significance decreases. I will demonstrate two different situations; in the first situation students know the teacher well while in the second one students do not know the teacher, they can rely on their first impression when try to figure out the teacher's style. The research project explores the effect of changing appearance,rmake-up on students' propensity for speaking when the teacher is unfamiliar with the class and when she is well-known.
