Abstract

This thesis was born to introduce the role and importance of teaching aids in English language teaching. In Chapter 1 I intend to categorise the teaching aids. The authors of other works in methodology usually follow two ways of categorisation. The usual categories are of two groups: visual, auditive and audio-visual aids form one group and technical and non-technical aids form the other group. Now I categorise them from another point of view as well. I listed them as mobile and immobile aids, because this factor has got a great importance when the teacher plans his lessons. The next chapter answers the question `why is it important to make difference between mobile and immobile aids?', since it is about the problem of classrooms. There is not always well equipped rooms for language teaching and teachers have to teach in different places with the help of teaching aids. The last and longest chapter introduces the teaching aids in details. These detailed descriptions of their roles and importance are divided into two groups of technicals and non-technicals. And finally I will to draw the conclusions based on what was discussed in the thesis.
