Abstract

The first part "Evaluation" gives the reader the definition of evaluation and elaborates on it as evaluation is the central theme of this work. I made good use of my methodology notes and also of the book of Báthory Zoltán mentioned in the Bibliography, especially the 7th chapter titled "The pedagogical evaluation". The second part "Evaluation by marking" deals with the current situation in Hungary. It includes the description of the system itself and its effects on those involved in it: the students, their parents and the teachers. In essence this is the description of the problem, and the analysis of its positive and negative sides. Then follow several already known methods of evaluation aside from marking, but still based on some kind of grading. This part also contains the analysis of these methods, highlighting all the positive and negative aspects that are going to be used later in the last part. In the fourth and last part "Implications" I briefly examined some of the most important points in the light of future research and development, and following this are several ideas to apply the positive ideas in the presence of the current marking system.
