Abstract

The scene o'f the burning, round-shaped wagons, the cruel faces of the Indians, the frightened women are not surprising in a western movie. The never smiling faces of the outlaws, their heavy guns on their sides and their cold-blooded addiction to kill are not strange in the Western as well. These features occupy many people's minds, as the western is a famous and well-known genre. But are these characteristic features true? If not, is it a fair game to mislead people with false ideas about the lives and roles of the outlaws of the Wild West? Actually, was it wild? I tried to find answers to these questions in my thesis in order to show the real features of the Wild West.
