Abstract

The requirements of teaching English as a foreign language in the lower primary classes appeared in the last years. In this thesis, I will examine the effectiveness of grammar teaching for pupils between the age of six and nine. The examination will be preceded by the description of conditions. This part will imply the description of the village and the school where the examined pupils live and learn. I will write about the pupils’ abilities. I will present the way in which grammar is taught in the English lessons in the first, second and third classes. The grammar test is based on this practical work and assesses the students’ knowledge of grammar. I would like to prove that correct grammar teaching is very important and essential in the examined age group.
